Yesterday the members of parliament made a mockery of MY democracy. Each and every member made us Indians a hooker, selling her soul to next john. You know when those Bollywood masala movies came which portrayed lecherous, corrupt ministers; I used to cringe and wonder if our real world is really like this. Yesterday my fears were confirmed. I know I am yapping just like everyone else, but I need to vent my fears and anxieties. The future of our country is really bleak and sadly, ALL politicians are to be blamed. They don’t have the balls to call a spade a spade for the fear they may hurt their VOTE BANKS. Not that dirty politics doesn’t exist in other countries, but citizen forums are so strong there, community efforts are so enduring, that all responsible parties are held accountable for their misdeeds. In India the only thing we citizens know to do is complain. You will find us complaining in the media, chat rooms, forums, blogs etc. but action will be ziltch! I am ashamed to say that you will have to count me in this category. In a country whose major downfall is over population, it’s ironic that we cannot unite this number to an advantage and take on the corrupt perpetrators.
The only hope is the next-gen, hopefully they will add a dash of sincerity to the system.
Picture this: Sadashiv Amrapurkar in a minister’s garb advancing towards you with a menacing look…. scared? Don’t let that happen…lets do something!

Very well said Radhika...but the ironical part is we only give vent to our pent up frustrations by penning our thoughts, while the media plays with the sentiments of ordinary citizens. The politicians are not bothered at all, there job is done.

like i said ”count me in” in the complaining, even i know i won’t do anything else...maybe we think we are a small fry in the deep sea...but every drop matters. only if we could start a citizen movement and advocate Zero Tolerance towards corruption.

er.. right. What can we do? When we clearly know the media is showing something for TRPs and we still watch it. What can we do? The remote wont work!

What can we do if politicians are least bothered. We obviously have to vote for them, whatever they are upto.

Great article Radhika.

Good article Radhika. And as you mentioned, its just showing our helplessness. With multi-party system, ”horse trading” is bound to happen and we people will be spectator to this humiliation of democracy.
”What can we do?” is the question and if you ask me, the answer is sadly nothing :(

How true....but sad that we all feel the same and still all we can do is discuss and debate and speak our minds. Thats it!
Ah, one thing can help.....only if we can request the terrorists to blow up all of these jerks who have the power call themselves politcians. Then we can start clean again :)
Lol.......scary that such crooks get the worst out of me and my thoughts.
